The surroundings of Skopje are equally attractive. A walk along the picturesquely situated Matka canyon on a ledge carved in the rock wall, a boat ride on the lake or visiting the Wrelo karst cave were an unforgettable experience for me. A similar attraction was the opportunity to admire the unusual Byzantine frescoes in the church of St. Panteleimon in the village of Gornji Nerezi, situated on the slopes of Mount Vodno.
